Refresh your connection sign-in sessions

Your Sigma organization might be set up so that you can sign in to one or more connections using OAuth.

To make sure that your access to data in Sigma remains uninterrupted, manage your connection authentication sessions and sign in before your session expires.

If your OAuth session to your data platform is going to expire, Sigma notifies you in several ways:

  • Starting 4 days before your session expires, an orange banner appears at the top of every page, prompting you to sign in to the connection. You can dismiss it without signing in, but it reappears in 1 hour (if your session expires within 24 hours) or in 1 day (if your session expires in more than 24 hours).
  • If you own or receive any scheduled exports or scheduled materializations, 4 days before your session expires Sigma sends an email notifying you to sign in again.
  • If you open a workbook that uses data from a connection that you sign in to, you see an alert to sign in again when your session is going to expire within 20 minutes, or has already expired.

Sign in to a connection

You can sign in when prompted, or at any time to refresh an active session:

  • When you see a prompt to sign in to a connection because your session is expiring or has already expired, click Sign in.
  • In a workbook, you can select More options () > Sign in with OAuth... to refresh your session.
  • If you have access to view a connection, you can open Connections, then choose a connection and click Sign in with OAuth to refresh your session.

Review current connection sessions

You can review your current sessions at any time. To view your connection sessions:

  1. In the top right corner of Sigma, click your user avatar.

  2. Select Profile.

  3. In your profile, locate the Connection authentication section.

The Connection authentication section lists your connections and the current status. For example, if your session expires in 3 days, you see a warning indicator () and the number of days until your session expires.

To refresh a connection session before it expires, click Refresh session. If your session has already expired, click Sign in.
