Get started in Sigma with view access

View as Markdown

If your organization assigned you an account type with View access, you can view, navigate, and interact with the workbooks and reports that other users in your organization share with you.

What you can do with view access

Interact with AI

Chat with Sigma Assistant or a Sigma agent:

  • Ask Sigma Assistant natural language questions. Use Sigma Assistant to ask questions about data.
  • Explain charts with AI. Use Explain charts with AI to get a plain-language summary of what a chart shows.
  • Chat with a Sigma agent. If a workbook contains a chat element, use the Sigma agent configured there to ask questions or accomplish tasks specific to that workbook.
  • Interact with Sigma Assistant in a workbook. Use Sigma Assistant in a workbook that you can access to ask data analysis questions and get help navigating and exploring the workbook itself.

Open documents

Open and collaborate on documents that you can access:

  • View workbooks and reports. Open any workbook or report shared with you and move between pages, open modals, sidebars, popovers, and drawers.
  • Add and view comments. Use the comments panel to leave feedback or ask questions directly on a workbook or report. Annotating a screenshot of an element in a comment requires Can explore access.

Explore data

Explore the data in documents available to you:

  • Sort, filter, and enter data in controls. Sort a column, expand or collapse grouped rows, and refresh the data on your own. Update filters and controls that the user who created the workbook already added to the page.
  • Drill down and up to view different data structures. Explore drill down paths that the user who created the workbook configured for you to explore ad hoc slices of data.
  • View aggregated underlying data. Review the data behind a chart or table, aggregated to match what the chart displays. To view or filter the unaggregated, row-level data behind a chart, you need Can explore access to the workbook.
  • View column details. Open a column menu and select Column details to see distribution statistics like top values, nulls, and averages. See View column details.

Save custom views and download data

Save views of the data for later:

  • Customize and save your own view of a workbook. Sorting, filtering, or otherwise interacting with a workbook opens a personal custom view, so you can rearrange the data without affecting what other users see. Save it as a saved view to return to it later. See Create and interact with custom views and Create and share saved views.
  • Download data in limited formats. Download a workbook page as a PDF or a chart as a PNG image.
  • Mark documents as favorites. Star a workbook, report, or folder to find it quickly later from your Favorites.
