Claude Platform spend template
You can use the AI Cost Monitoring: Claude Platform template (the Claude Platform spend template) to monitor your organization’s Claude Platform (API) spend and usage. If your Claude Platform cost and usage export data is stored in a data platform connected to Sigma, you can use the Claude Platform spend template to review an executive cost overview, token metrics, and spend and usage broken down by model and workspace.
The template is set up with sample data, so you can explore the analysis before you connect your own data.
This template covers direct Claude Platform (API) usage. For Claude Enterprise seat-based spend, adoption, and skill and connector usage, see the Claude Enterprise spend template.
System and user requirements
The ability to use the Claude Platform spend template requires the following:
- You must be assigned an account type with the Create, edit, and publish workbooks permission enabled.
- To use your own data, your organization must be connected to a data platform containing your Claude Platform cost and usage export tables (see Data sources). Otherwise, you can use the template with the provided sample data.
Data sources
The template expects data exported from the Claude Platform usage and cost API, landed in your warehouse. The template uses sample tables in the Sigma Sample Connection, but you can change the source to your organization’s own data if it exists in your data platform. Costs are reported in United States dollars (USD), so no credit-to-dollar conversion is needed.
The Claude Platform spend template expects the data in the following structure:
We recommend that you build tables in your data platform from the Claude Platform usage and cost API endpoints listed in this section before you swap sources in the template. The source swap matches those tables to the template.
Create a workbook from the template
To create a workbook from this template:
-
Go to Home > Templates, then select the AI Cost Monitoring: Claude Platform template to review its details.
-
Click Use template. The template opens as an exploration named after the template using sample data.
-
To use your own data, click Change sources:
In the Swap data sources overview modal, Sigma attempts to match each source to your own tables. Because the column names match the Claude Platform export schema, most sources should match automatically.
- To replace a matched source, select the source drop-down menu, then select a new source.
- Click Swap now, then explore the changes to confirm your data looks correct.
-
In the Filters menu, set the date range to scope every page to the period you care about.
-
To create an editable, publishable document, in the document header, click Save as, then name and save the workbook.
For more details, see Create documents from templates.
