Schedule exports using conditions

When you create email export and/or Slack notification schedules using the Schedule exports modal, you can define conditions for when the report is sent. Sigma checks conditions against a single data element of your choice, and Sigma will only send exports when the send conditions are met.

Set conditions for sending an export

  1. Follow the instructions for your export destination:
  2. In the Send section, select an option.
Send condition details vary by what you select.
    • If you select Always, you're all set. Sigma sends the export at the scheduled time. Continue to the next step.
    • If you select If there's no data, the In data element dropdown appears. Select an element. If the selected element has no data, Sigma sends the export.
    • If you select If there's data, the In data element dropdown appears. Select an element. If the selected element has data, Sigma sends the export.
    • If you select If a condition is met, the In data element dropdown and the check conditions appear.
Define column-specific condition using all or some of the following fields:
      • Check if: Choose whether Any values or All Values should meet the condition that follows.
      • In column: Select one column from the list for the condition to run against.
      • Is: Select a condition, such as equal to, greater than, or contains, to check against the column's values. Options are dependent on the selected column's value type.
      • Value: (Only available if the condition accepts a value.) Enter a value to check against the condition. The value must match the selected column's value type.
Workbook schedules that send If a condition is met can be tested before the schedule is saved. To test a condition, click Test Condition. Test results appear in line with the button.
  3. When you have finished setting all the options in the Send now or Schedule exports modal, click Create Schedule.
  4. (Optional) Go back to the modal and click Test Condition to confirm that data in the workbook meets your selected condition. Test results appear in line with the button.
    Tips:
    • If you are scheduling an export for a condition that IS NOT currently met, the Sigma team recommends testing a similar condition; that is, temporarily set the Value field to a value that matches the condition.
    • Using Send now bypasses these conditions and thus is not a recommended way to test.
