Configure Dataset Columns (Deprecated)

Datasets are deprecated. Starting June 2, 2026, you will no longer be able to create datasets or edit existing datasets. Migrate your datasets to data models and update any documents that use datasets as a data source to use a different source. See Migrate a dataset to a data model.

Begin by clicking the Edit button in the Dataset header. Next, click on the Columns tab.

Set Column Visibility

  1. Select the column’s default visibility:

    • Included columns are added by default to workbooks.

    • Available columns are not added by default to workbooks.

    • Restricted columns are not available in workbooks.

  2. Click Publish to save your changes.

Format Columns

  1. Find the column that you would like to format, and click the arrow next to the column name to open the column menu.

  2. Click Publish to save your changes.

Column Descriptions

  1. Click the Edit button in the dataset header.
  2. Click to open the Column tab.
  3. Enter a new description in the column's description input field.
  4. Click Publish to save the changes
