Introduction

Impersonate users is unavailable for organizations that use OAuth for authentication.  

The Impersonate Users feature provides admins with ability to assume a user and view, edit, access Sigma resources based on the user's account type

When admins impersonate a user, they can identify and troubleshoot issues that a user experiences from their perspective. This allows admins to resolve problems with greater efficiency so their users can resume work. Admins can also verify what documents the user can access and the corresponding permissions.

When you impersonate a user, an event is created in audit logs that identifies the user and impersonator. 


Impersonate a user 

Follow the steps below to impersonate a user in your organization. You can impersonate a user on the People or Team tabs. 

You can't assume the account of another admin user. Admins can only impersonate a Creator or Viewer. 

Impersonate a user on the People tab

  1. Go to Admin panel > People tab. 
  2. Select a user to impersonate.
  3. On user profile, click Impersonate User.

  4. At top of the UI, you will see yellow  banner that confirms the identity of the user you are impersonating. During the impersonation session, you can view, edit, and access Sigma resources based on the user's account type

  5. Click Stop Impersonation to end the session. You will land on the user's profile logged in as yourself.

Impersonate a user from the Team tab

  1. Go to Admin panel > People tab. 
  2. Select a user to impersonate.
  3. Click the more menu and select Impersonate user.
