Sigma’s content permissions management process allows you to selectively share your analysis and facilitate collaboration with colleagues across your organization. This can include everything from building upon each other’s modeled data to exploring visualized analysis through pre-built dashboard controls.

Who manages content permissions?
Access for each Sigma report, Dataset, and folder can be shared, modified or revoked by either the individual content’s owner or an organization admin.
The content owner is initially its creator. However, organization admins do have the ability to change a
ownership when managing content permissions. Ownership may also be transferred to an admin if the original owner’s account has been deactivated.
Permission Types
There are two available permission types for Sigma content: ‘Can View’ and ‘Can Edit’. These permissions can be granted to users, teams, and/or to all organization members.

Granted privileges on shared content (report, Dataset or folder) |

Can Edit |

Permissions are Additive
It is possible that a user or team can be granted both ‘View’ and ‘Edit’ permissions on content. In such a scenario, ‘Edit’ permission will be recognized.
Upstream Access is Not Inherited
When a team or user is given access to content in Sigma, that access is NOT passed onto upstream sources. For example, if you are granted permission to view a dashboard, you will be able to view all visualizations included on that dashboard. However, you will only be able to access a visualization’s upstream worksheet if you have access to that worksheet.
The 'Can Organize' Permission Type
A third, 'Can Organize' permission type also exists but cannot be assigned in the same way as View and Edit permissions. This permission type automatically exists at the team workspace folder level for all members in a team, allowing them to move documents and folders into the workspace as well as move, rename, and delete documents on which they have Edit access.
Open Share Options
Share a Worksheet or Dashboard
You can share your report by clicking on the blue Share button in the top right of a published version of the report. This will open up the Share Modal where you can grant permissions.
If the report is not published, you will instead see a green ‘Publish’ button. Click ‘Publish’ and then click ‘Share’.
Reports can also be shared from their ••• menu on any listing navigation page. Open the menu and click ‘Share’ to open the Share Modal where you can grant permissions.
Share a Dataset
Dataset permissions can be granted and managed from the Dataset’s ‘Permissions’ tab. Click ‘Add Grant’ to open the Share Modal and begin granting permissions.
To manage existing permissions open the ••• menu beside the grant you would like to manage.
A Dataset can also be shared from its ••• menu on any listing navigation page. Open the menu and click ‘Share’ to open the Share Modal where you can grant permissions.
Share a Folder
A folder can be shared from its ••• menu on any listing navigation page . Open the menu and click Share to open the share Share Modal and begin granting permissions.
When you grant access to a folder, the grantee will inherit that access on all content within the folder. Permissions are additive, so you may choose to grant ‘View’ access on a folder and ‘Edit’ access on select content within it.

Access Shared Content
When content is shared with you, whoever shared it will be given the option to send an email notifying you that you now have access.
To find content that has been shared with you, visit the Share With Me section of Sigma’s left hand navigation panel.
Share Dashboard Drafts
Dashboard drafts can be shared internally before publication.
To share your dashboard draft, copy the dashboard’s URL and send the link to your colleague(s). The URL’s draft parameter, and its associated id, will identify the correct draft state (ie “:draft=<id>”).
Draft ids are instance specific. This means a new draft id is created with every edit action you make to a dashboard. If you make a change, copy the URL, and then make a second change, the original URL you copied will only reflect the first change.
To ensure you are sharing the correct draft of your dashboard, be sure to copy the URL after you have made all of the intended changes.
