Sigma Public is a free-to-use platform where you can create, share, and explore apps built in Sigma. Use sample data or upload your own datasets to build workflows in an embedded Sigma experience. Or, search apps created by other users to get inspiration for your next app in Sigma.

#### Usernames and names

Your username uniquely identifies your account on Sigma Public, and is always visible to other users. You can set your username in the **Details** panel on the **Edit profile** screen. When you set or update your username, it must meet the following requirements:

* The username must be unique.
* The username cannot contain spaces.

In addition to a username, you can enter your **First name** and **Last name**, and can choose whether to make them public or private. ## Build and publish apps

Sigma Public allows you to create an embedded version of a Sigma [workbook](/docs/create-a-workbook) and share it as a publicly available application. After you make your app public, it can be discovered and used by other users on Sigma Public.

All Sigma Public accounts have a [Build license](/docs/account-type-and-license-overview#license-tiers), allowing you to create and edit [AI apps](/docs/ai-apps) in Sigma, using features like [tables](/docs/create-and-manage-tables), [input tables](/docs/intro-to-input-tables), [actions](/docs/intro-to-actions), [layout elements](/docs/intro-to-layout-elements), and more.

Sigma Public users do not have access to all Sigma features. You cannot access features that require configuration at the organization level or by a user with the [Admin](/docs/account-type-and-license-overview) account type, such as adding connections, user attributes, API connectors, and more.

### Create an app

To create a new app in Sigma Public:

1. Log into Sigma Public.
2. Select **Create app**.
3. Enter a name for the app.
4. (Optional) Enter a description for the app.

The new app is created. Only you can see it until you [make it public](#make-an-app-public).

### Add data to an app

When creating an app in Sigma Public, you can use sample data provided by Sigma or upload your own data through a CSV upload.

Sigma Public users cannot create connections to data platforms like Snowflake or Databricks.

To access sample data provided by Sigma, [add a data element](/docs/create-a-data-element) that uses the provided [sample connection](/docs/sigmas-sample-connection) as a data source.

Alternatively, you can [Upload CSV data](/docs/upload-csv-data) to work with your own dataset.

Never upload or share sensitive information to Sigma Public. See the Privacy Notice for Sigma Public.

### Make an app public

After creating an app in Sigma Public, you can share it with other users by making it public.

Making an app public is distinct from publishing an app. In Sigma Public, you can select **Publish** to publish any changes from your current draft to the published version. However, even after selecting **Publish**, your app is not available to other Sigma Public users until you select **Make App Public**. For more information about document versions in Sigma and publishing a draft, see [Draft and publish a workbook](/docs/edit-draft-and-publish-a-workbook).

When you finish editing your app, select **Publish** to update the published version. To make the app visible to others, select **Make App Public**.

After making the app public, you can still make edits to a draft version without making them available to other users. To update the public app that other users see, select **Publish** to save your edits to the published version, then select **Make App Public** to make the updates visible to other users.

### Manage your apps

You can view your apps, edit apps, delete apps, and manage their visibility on your profile:

1. Go to the **Home** page.
2. Select the profile icon, then select **View profile**.

The profile opens, with the **Your public Apps** tab selected by default.

3. (Optional) To view all apps, regardless of visibility, select **All your Apps**.
4. To edit or manage an app, select next to the title of the app, and select an option.

Apps created in Sigma Public cannot be shared or transferred to another Sigma organization.

## Share and follow

You can follow other users on Sigma Public to stay up-to-date with their latest apps:

1. Navigate to a user's profile using the search bar, or by selecting their profile while viewing an app they built.
2. Select **+ Follow**.

### See apps from users you follow

You can view content from the users you follow on Sigma Public:

1. Go to the **Home** page.
2. Select the profile icon, then select **View profile**.
3. On your profile screen, select **Builders you follow**.

A feed of the users you follow on Sigma Public appears.
